DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The British Foreign Office announced on Tuesday that the United Kingdom is reviewing the sanctions imposed on Syria in collaboration with its allies.
This announcement was made by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during a parliamentary session addressing foreign policy concerns.
Earlier this week, Arab media reported that the European Union foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Brussels on Jan. 27 to discuss the possibility of easing sanctions on Syria.
Lammy remarked that they are currently reassessing the sanctions in partnership with their allies, emphasizing that their goal is to support the establishment of an inclusive government in Syria.
He acknowledged progress in Syria, saying, they are encouraged by certain aspects of the ongoing process, but remain concerned about troubling developments on the ground.
Lammy underscored the importance of accountability, stating their judgments will be based on actions, not words.
