Communication with new Syrian administration ongoing – SDC official
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – An official in the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) revealed on Tuesday that communication channels with the new Syrian administration in Damascus remain active.
Azhar Ahmed, an official in the SDC’s Relations Office, stated during a dialogue session organized by the Council in the city of Hasakah that multiple rounds of dialogue have been held with the new administration in Syria, with more discussions planned.
In a statement to North Press, Ahmed said, “All meetings have been positive and productive, and we are optimistic that in the coming days there will be agreements to address some of the concerns of the citizens.”
Last week, Ali Rahmoun, the deputy co-chair of the SDC, announced that the new Syrian administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had agreed to establish military, economic, security, and administrative committees.
Ahmed further explained that efforts are underway with the current authorities in Damascus to address critical issues, particularly as the Syrian crisis deepens with no resolution in sight.
He emphasized the need to provide clarity for political forces concerned about the structure of the current government and the country’s future.
He also highlighted the importance of inclusivity, noting that a conference planned in Damascus will not succeed unless it incorporates all political and social forces.
He added they are determined that participation must not be limited to individuals but should involve foundational entities that have safeguarded the region and possess significant political, administrative, and military expertise.
The SDC, founded in 2015, is seen as the reference and the political umbrella for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
