Israel begins road construction along Syrian border

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Associated Press (AP) reported on Monday that the Israeli forces has started road construction along the demilitarized “Alpha Line” in southern Syria, which separates the Golan Heights from Syria.

According to the report, satellite images reveal the Israeli forces paving a road with asphalt directly along the border.

The United Nations confirmed that the Israeli forces entered the demilitarized zone during the construction, which it described as a “violation of ceasefire rules governing the area.”

While no major incidents of violence have occurred along the Alpha Line, United Nations peacekeepers, operating under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), have patrolled the area since 1974.

The Israeli forces did not respond to requests for comment, and Syrian officials in Damascus also declined to comment, according to the AP.

In mid-October, the Israeli military announced plans to build a substantial land barrier along the border with Syria, signaling increased security measures in the area.
