Government forces impose siege on village in Damascus after attack

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces imposed on Sunday a siege on a town in the western countryside of Damascus, southern Syria, following an attack on two of its members by unidentified assailants.

Local sources informed North Press that the government forces sealed off entrances and exits of the town of Zakyah, south of Damascus, enforced a curfew, and restricted movement in and out of the town.

The sources said that tensions escalated after unknown gunmen attacked two brothers: Hassan Ghadir and Hussein Ghadir, leaving both with serious injuries.

In response, the government deployed additional military reinforcements around the town, preparing for a potential raid.

The sources revealed that Hassan Ghadir commands a military unit within the government forces’ Fourth Armored Division, while his brother, Hussein, is allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
