HTS arrests 18 individuals in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) launched on Wednesday a raid and arrest campaign targeting 18 individuals in Idlib Governorate, Northwest Syria.

The General Security apparatus of the HTS launched a campaign arrest targeting 18 individuals, including six members of the armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Syria (SNA), in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

The campaign came following the assassination of one of the HTS’ security personnel inside his car.

An administrator of the HTS reported that the arrests took place in the town of Kafraya and the village of al-Fu’a, northeast of Idlib, during which six members from the Faylaq al-Sham and Jaysh al-Ahrar factions, affiliated with the SNA, were detained, in addition to 12 other individuals.

He said that the arrests came after the body of the so-called Abu Jandal al-Hamawi, a member of the HTS’ General Security apparatus, was found shot dead inside his car, which was located on the road connecting between Kafraya and al-Fu’a.

The detainees were transferred to the al-Zweibeq prison near the village of Sheikh Bahr, northwest of the city of Idlib, where inquiries or requests for information about the detainees are prohibited in such cases.
