Fresh Israeli airstrikes hit near Damascus
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli airstrikes targeted late on Sunday several sites on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus, resulting in material damages, Syrian news agency reported.
The state-run SANA news agency said citing an unnamed military source from the Syrian government forces, “At approximately 11:05 pm, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some posts in the vicinity of Damascus.”
SANA added that the Syrian air defenses managed to down some of the missiles, adding the strikes caused only material damages without giving further details.
Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7, Israel has targeted several sites in Syria multiple times. Israel claims these strikes target weapons warehouses linked to Iranian-backed militias.
On Dec. 2, Israel launched airstrikes against several locations on the outskirts of Damascus. The attacks caused only material losses.
