Asayish capture 4 government-linked “saboteurs” in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced the arrest of four individuals linked to the Syrian government forces and involved in sabotage acts in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The region has been experiencing instability due to armed groups affiliated with the Syrian government and Iran carrying out attacks on civilian areas and military posts belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The Asayish said in a statement on their website that their special forces successfully arrested on Sunday four individuals associated with the government, engaged in sabotage operations in Deir ez-Zor.

These sabotage groups are reportedly funded by the Syrian government, aiming to sow discord and undermine security and stability in areas-held by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

According to the statement, the Asayish seized weapons and equipment with the detainees, including an AK-47 rifle, three hunting rifles, a grenade, knives, six magazines with ammunition, and personal cellphones and documents.

The initial interrogation with the detainees will continue, and they will subsequently be referred to the judiciary for trial and accountability, the statement concluded.
