Turkey deports over 500 Syrian refugees to northern Syria

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities deported on Monday 525 Syrian refugees, including women and children, through the Bab al-Salam, Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa border crossings, in northern Syria.

Turkey continues to forcibly deport hundreds of Syrian refugees almost on a daily basis. In September, the number of deportees has exceeded 10,000.

Administrative sources at the Tel Abyad, Bab al-Hawa, and Bab al-Salam crossings informed North Press that Turkish authorities deported over 525 Syrian refugees today, handing them over to their affiliated factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

They further said that 115 Syrians, including 17 women, were handed over to SNA factions at the Tal Abyad crossing in northern Raqqa. In addition, 160 others, including 25 women, were handed over through Bab al-Salam crossing in Aleppo northern countryside to SNA factions and were taken to investigation centers.

Turkey also handed over 250 refugees, including 39 women, to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which controls much of northwestern Syria, through the Bab al-Hawa crossing, according to the sources.

The sources indicated that the deportation process took place after the Turkish authorities confiscated all personal identification documents from the deportees. They also took their fingerprints and biometric data to ensure that they would not return to Turkish territory.
