Landmine blast injures man in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press)— One individual was wounded on Tuesday in a landmine explosion in the town of al-Hussainiyah in the east of the city of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Nasser al-Ayesh, a resident in the town of al-Hussainiyah, said Adnan al-Arwa, 41, was injured in a landmine explosion near the Euphrates River while he was attempting to cross it.
Al-Arwa lost his leg and sustained shrapnel injuries in various parts of his body, al-Ayesh told North Press.
Al-Arwa hails from the village of al-Jnenah in the north of Deir ez-Zor city, under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), but resides in al-Hussainiyah which is under government control to work there.
In early August, two children lost their lives, and two others were injured in a landmine explosion in the town of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
According to the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press, 351 people, including 21 women and 74 children, have lost their lives in Syria since the beginning of 2023.
