SDF faces sedition following operation in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor – AANES
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Wednesday the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is facing sedition plots in tandem with a security operation in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, to incite the components of the community against each other.
On Aug. 27, The SDF launched a security operation called “Security Reinforcement” with the support of the US-led Global Coalition against ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor. The Autonomous Administration in Deir ez-Zor declared its support for the operation, calling the people to support and cooperate with the SDF.
Following the launch of the operation, clashes erupted between the SDF and gunmen in Deir ez-Zor. The SDF stated that they engaged with Islamic State (ISIS) militants, drug traffickers, and vandals.
The AANES stated that “Deir ez-Zor is facing sedition plots in tandem with the security operation to incite the people against each other and to divert the course of the military operation and stabilization efforts.”
The statement added that the AANES considers the civil peace a “red line” and rejects attempts to destabilize the region.
The statement stressed the need for the people of Deir ez-Zor to cooperate with the SDF forces to impose security.
The AANES called on the tribes of Deir ez-Zor not to be led into any plots that serve the enemies of the region, stressing that the operation “aims to impose security and stability and safeguard the people,” according to the statement.
