Activists in Suwayda call for civil disobedience across Syria
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a group of activists in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, called on people across all Syrian areas for a civil disobedience across all sectors due to poor living conditions.
A group of activists from Suwayda, calling themselves “Ahrar Jabal al-Arab,” called for civil disobedience following the protests that took place in Suwayda this morning.
The activists declared their non-recognition of the current authority, considering the Syrian government as “usurped by Russia and Iran, and demanding an end to their services”.
They urged the United Nations, international bodies, and human rights organizations to hold Russia and its instruments fully responsible for the decisions that have put Syrians at risk of poverty and destitution.
They called on the international community to support national liberation forces and expel the Russian mandate and Iranian militias, putting an end to their domination over Syrian resources, which are the legitimate rights of the population.
They also demanded the release of all prisoners of conscience in Syria and the restoration of public freedoms.
Additionally, the activists called for the overthrow of the current constitution and a return to the 1943 Independence Constitution, as well as they demanded for the opening of a humanitarian crossing with Jordan.
