HTS arrests teachers over holding mixed-sex education in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) stormed on Thursday six houses of teachers over holding mixed-sex education sessions for middle school students, the thing which is considered a “taboo” for the group.

A local source informed North Press that the Salvation Government, HTS political wing, received information from the Ministry of Education that six teachers including a female held mixed-sex education sessions for the middle school students.

The storming campaign included the neighborhoods of al-Qusour, Wadi al-Nassim, Dabbit, and al-Thalatheen, as the convicted teachers were transferred to HTS-affiliated Base 107 to be investigated.

On August 7, the HTS Salvation Government imposed the Sharia dress and sex segregation on school students in the city of Idlib.

The HTS, rebranded in 2017, controls the city of Idlib and western Aleppo Governorate, under the guise of the Salvation Government.
