Syrian government raises medicine prices

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press)— The Syrian Ministry of Health announced on Thursday increasing the prices of certain types of medicine by 50 percent.

The ministry announced in a post published on its formal page: “The prices of medicine have been increased by 50 to 65 percent based on the new bulletin issued by the Central Bank of Syria on July 24.”

As a result, many pharmaceutical laboratories ceased production due to the plunge of the Syrian pound against the greenback.

At the beginning of 2023, the Syrian Ministry of Health announced increasing the prices of pharmaceutical products, with some of them hiking by up to 80 percent.
