Wildfires devour sprawling forests in Syria’s Afrin
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – Huge wildfires devoured, on Saturday, large parts of forest areas near the towns of Jindires and Bulbul in the countryside Afrin Region, northwest Syria.
A local source told North Press that a huge wildfire broke out in the forest near the village of Hajj Hasna near Jindires, and continued for more than five hours, consuming large spaces estimated at about 5 hectares, damaging hundreds of trees.
A similar wildfire broke out in the forest near the village of Bakhcha in Bulbul, north of Afrin, and consumed more than 100 trees in areas estimated at about 30 dunams, the source added.

The firefighting teams extinguished the two wildfires after hours of work, using water and isolation methods, fire suppression systems, due to the difficulty of the terrain in the region and the inability to access some parts of fires.
It was recorded more than nine wildfires in different areas in northwest Syria, where three fires broke out in fuel refining stations north of Aleppo, while other fires broke out in agricultural areas in the countryside of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria.
