ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, an official in Agriculture Directorate in Aleppo, affiliated with the Syrian government, said that a portion of the wheat received from farmers has been transferred to grain institutions in preparation for the upcoming season.

The official confirmed to North Press that the total amount of wheat received is 208,000 tons, which was harvested from 100,000 irrigated hectares and 50,000 rain-fed hectares in Aleppo Governorate.

The source also revealed that the Directorate has allocated the season’s yield to the Grain Marketing Institution and the Seed Multiplication Institution, with a quantity of 199,300 tons and 8,700 tons, respectively. “This action is part of the annual plan to make the most of the crop yield.”

The official indicated that the Directorate has decided to reduce the number of grain receiving centers from 8 to 4 as the wheat marketing operations are nearing completion.
