Second batch of Syrians evacuated from Sudan arrive in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, 199 Syrians, including 60 children, arrived at Damascus International Airport in the second batch evacuated from Sudan.

State-run SANA News Agency said that “the second batch of Syrians consisting of 199 individuals, including 60 children, were evacuated from Sudan on a flight by the Cham Wings Airlines.”

On May 2, 191 Syrians, including 21 children, arrived at Damascus International Airport after being evacuated from Sudan.

Earlier, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed in a statement that it is following with great interest the situation of Syrians residing in Sudan and wished them and the Sudanese people security and safety, according to SANA.

In a previous statement, the agency reported that the Cham Wings Airlines commenced two free flights and helped evacuating Syrians stranded at Port Sudan Airport.

The Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group, have been clashing across the country since April 15, leaving behind hundreds of casualties, most of whom are civilians.
