Education process suspended in 27 schools in Syria’s Hama
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Education Directorate in Hama Governorate, central Syria, announced on Monday that 27 schools in the governorate have not resume the educational process yet due to cracking its constructive infrastructure.
A day before, the educational process in Hama’s schools has been resumed except in the aforementioned ones in Soran, Salamiyah, Salhab, Suqaylabiyah, Muhrada and Masyaf, in addition to the first and the second countryside.
At dawn on Feb. 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Syria and Turkey, killing tens thousands and injuring many more. The earthquake also caused immense destruction of buildings, trapping thousands under the rubble.
Yahya Menjid, Director of Education told the pro-government al-Watan newspaper that supervisors of the educational facilities in the abovementioned areas were assigned to find alternative schools until the damaged ones can be rehabilitated.
The concerned authorities continue to restore the slightly damaged schools, he added.
On Feb.15, Mahmoud Zanbu’a, Governor of Hama, said that around 7.150 houses, 256 schools, and 116 government facilities were damaged by the earthquake.
