Syrians, Afghans, Tunisians make up 47% of irregular entries to Europe

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) said on Friday Syrians, Afghans, and Tunisians made up 47% of irregular entries to Europe in 2022.

In 2022, nearly 330.000 irregular border crossings were detected at EU’s external border, the highest number since 2016, according to Frontex.

The year 2022 recorded an increase in the number of irregular entries by about 64% in comparison to 2021. 

In 2022, around 330.000 irregular border crossings were detected at EU’s external border, which marks the second year in a row with a steep rise in the number of irregular entries following the pandemic.

It revealed that the number of Syrians has doubled to 94.000 in 2022.
