Tribal leaders call for quitting SNA leader in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Tribal leaders from the city of al-Ra’i in the northern countryside of Aleppo, called on the leaders of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA), to quit a leader of Suqour al-Shamal Brigade, affiliated with the SNA, that runs the region.
The leaders released a statement, calling for quitting Khalil Khairiya, a leader of Suqour al-Shamal Brigade, saying that he “carries out, along with his militants, violations against the civilians of the area.”
The tribal leaders demanded the SNA leaders send a committee to investigate about the violations that Khairiya is carrying out.
Khairiya and militants of his group carry out violations that “go against the dignity of the civilians while they pass through checkpoints under the supervision of the militants on an almost daily basis,” the statement read.
The tribal leaders called on all authorities in the region to take all needed measures to quit the aforementioned leader and militants “to avoid any clashes that may take place and increase the pains of the civilians.”
A local source told North Press that Khairiya is charged with cases of sexual exploitation and rape, not to mention sending a group of his militants to fight alongside Turkey against Haftar government in Libya last year.
Turkey, since 2020, has recruited thousands of Syrian mercenaries of the SNA factions to battle along Government of National Accord against Libyan National Army under the command of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
“Khairiya supports his brother, Hassan Khairiya, who works in smuggling drugs that he distributs to the militants of the group, and he carries out operations of blackmail and thefts in the region,” according to the source.
