498 Palestinian women killed in decade-long Syrian war – watchdog
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria documented the death of 498 Palestinian women refugees in Syria in 11 years.
The group stated on Friday that the cause of the death varied from direct shelling of their places of residence, clashes, siege, torture until death, and immigration.
The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria is a London-based human rights watchdog that monitors the situation of Palestinian refugees in war-torn Syria.
The group’s statistics show that 110 Palestinian female refugees are detained by the Syrian government in unknown detention centers and there is no information about their fate due to the security apparatus’ discretion.
According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Palestinian refugees in Syria surpass half a million refugees most of them are based in the al-Yarmouk Camp neighborhood in the capital, Damascus.
