Aleppo countryside witnesses protests against Syria-Turkey normalization
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Protests were organized on Friday in cities and towns in both northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo against Syrian-Turkish normalization.
An exclusive source told North Press residents of the cities of Azaz, Afrin, al-Bab and Souran took to street against the recent Turkish statements on Syrian-Turkish normalization.
The source added that the protests were entitle “We will not reconcile,” and protesters rejected refloating the Syrian government internationally or restoring ties with it.
This followed calls for protesting in several areas in Aleppo countryside in the few past days, according to the source.
Last week, several cities and towns in Aleppo countryside witnessed mass protests entitled “We prefer to die rather than reconciling with al-Assad,” the same source said.
On December 28 of 2022, a trilateral meeting took place between the Russian, Turkish and Syrian defense ministers in Moscow, which was described by the three parties as “constructive.”
In mid-December 2022, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he suggested to Putin a trilateral meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and trilateral steps on security issues.
“For the discussions on this issue, first the intelligence organizations, then the defense ministers, and then foreign ministers of the parties should meet,” Turkish media quoted Erdogan as saying.
