Protests erupt in Syria’s Idlib against Turkish-Syrian rapprochement
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, residents and activists took to streets in the city of Idlib, northwest Syria, expressing rejection to any Turkish-Syrian rapprochement or reconciliation.
A local source told North Press dozens involved in the protests, calling for reviving the revolution.
The protests followed a trilateral meeting that brought to gather defense ministers of Russia, Turkey and Syria in Moscow with the participation of leaders of intelligence apparatuses of the three countries.
The source added, “The protesters gathered in al-Mashtal square in Idlib, and they raised signs that bore phrases, including, “We will not reconcile….Reconciliation is betrayal of Martyrs’ blood and revolution…Turkey let down revolution and people.”
The protesters also called for toppling the Syrian government and rejecting reconciliation, they also expressed solidarity with Daraa Governorate, south Syria, where protests have been organized against the government forces’ practices, according to the source.
