Syrian government forces to deploy in SDF-held areas on border with Turkey

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces are getting ready to heavily deploy in Kobani, Manbij and Tel Rifaat countryside in north and northeast of Aleppo Governorate to confront Turkish potential invasion, a military source told North Press on Sunday.

The government forces is scheduled to intensively deploy in Aleppo countryside, on the border with Turkey, which is held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), North Press correspondent in Damascus said.

The military source added that large numbers of heavy machineries is going to be brought in under the auspices of prominent officers of the government forces.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.

On July 1, Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.
