Global Coalition identifies detained senior ISIS leader in Syria’s Jarablus

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Global Coalition forces declared on Thursday the identity of the leader of ISIS, who was arrested in an airdrop operation, at dawn today, in the countryside of the city of Jarablus, which is controlled by Turkey and its affiliated opposition SNA factions.

Coalition forces identified the senior ISIS leader detained during a June 16 counterterrorism operation in Aleppo, Syria, as Hani Ahmed al-Kurdi.

Al-Kurdi was also known as an “experienced bomb maker and operational facilitator” for Isis in Syria, according to the US-led coalition against the terror group.

Hani Ahmed al-Kurdi, known as Salim, was responsible for coordinating terrorist activities across the region. He was instructing others on making explosive devices, supporting the construction of improvised explosive device facilities, and facilitating attacks on U.S. and partner forces.

The successful mission avoided any harm to civilians or civilian infrastructure and resulted in no damage to Coalition aircraft or assets.

Coalition forces will continue to work with our partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Iraqi Security Forces, including the Peshmerga, to hunt the remnants of ISIS wherever they hide to ensure their enduring defeat, the statement said.
