Powerful blast in Afghanistan leaves casualties
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A huge explosion shook Kabul, the Afghan capital, killing and wounding dozens.
At least 25 people were killed and more than 50 wounded in an explosion targeted the military hospital of Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan in Kabul, Reuters cited officials.
A group of suicide bombers broke into the place, where two managed to blow themselves up, while the rest clashed with militants of the Taliban, deputy spokesman for the movement, Bilal Karimi, said.
“According to our preliminary information, an explosion occurred at the entrance to the military hospital, and another explosion occurred near the hospital,” a Taliban official said.
“The explosion left casualties, and the wounded were transported to another hospital in the city,” the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Qari Saeed Khosty, said.
“We destroyed an ISIS sleeper cell hours after the Kabul explosion,” the Taliban added.
In August, a powerful bomb explosion struck the perimeter of Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, as civilians continued to seek to escape on flights from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
The United States, European and Western countries expressed their fears of the return of terrorism to the country with the Taliban taking over the power.
