Abdi meets Syria’s Kobani official over prison fire
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Presidency Adviser Mazloum Abdi met on Monday with Kobani District Director Ibrahim Muslim to discuss a prison fire that killed nine inmates and injured 18 others.
The meeting took place at the district directorate in Kobani, two days after the fire, and focused on the circumstances of the incident and recent developments, North Press sources reported.
Abdi and Muslim also discussed measures needed to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, according to the sources.
Abdi stressed the need for a transparent, independent investigation into the prison fire and accountability for those responsible for violations affecting civilians and inmates.
He also underscored the importance of maintaining security and stability in the city, activating the roles of administrative and judicial institutions, and accelerating the integration of security, judicial and administrative bodies in Kobani.
Muslim, for his part, stressed the need to strengthen the role of judicial and security institutions and improve coordination between them to protect residents and maintain security and stability in the area.
