Military escalation between government and opposition in Syria’s Idlib continues
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday evening, areas in the Idlib region and Hama countryside, northwest Syria, witnessed a renewed exchange of shelling between the Syrian government forces and the armed opposition factions.
“The government forces stationed at the surrounding checkpoints bombed the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sufuhn, al-Bara and San in Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, with missiles and heavy artillery shells,” military sources of the opposition told North Press.
The sources added that the bombing coincided with an intense flight of Russian drones and warplanes over the area, without reports of casualties.
Meanwhile, the al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several armed factions, said that it destroyed a ZSU-23-4 Shilka vehicle of the government forces on the axis of the village of Kokaba, northwest of Hama.
During the last period, the southern countryside of Idlib witnessed a new displacement of residents as a result of the military escalation.
