Iran-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun seizes houses in central Syria’s Palmyra

PALMYRA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, residents of the city of Palmyra, in the Syrian Desert, said that the Iran-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun has seized four houses in Palmyra under accusation that their owners are affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and are residing in Idlib now.

Liwa Fatemiyoun seized the deserted houses, installed new locks on the doors and closed the houses amid the residents’ discontent.

Since early 2021, many houses and shops in Palmyra have been seized and were transferred to residential areas for the families of Iranian factions.

Zuhair Abdulaziz (a pseudonym), a resident of al-Jamiat, said that the owners of these houses left their houses and headed towards the Turkish territories after ISIS took the eastern countryside of Homs, and have authorized their relatives to attend to them.

“Homeowners cannot confront Liwa Fatemiyoun and the government forces currently for fear of being arrested after being accused of having affiliation with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham,” he added.
