IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a quarry exploded in Idlib, northwest Syria, killing five people and injuring others.
“Five people were killed and others were injured, due to an unexplained explosion inside a quarry containing explosive items used to break up rocks,” local sources told North Press.
“All of the dead were civilians working in the quarry, while the causes of the explosion are not known yet,” the sources added.
The death toll is expected to increase due to the severity of some injuries that were transferred to Turkish hospitals for treatment, according to the sources.
At the end of 2020, three civilians were killed after they fell in a fuel tank in the town of Termanin, in the northern countryside of Idlib.
