Russian patrol stationed in northeast Syria’s Derik countryside
DERIK, Syria (North Press) – A Russian patrol stationed on Saturday, in the countryside of Derik in the far northeastern Syria.
Seven Russian armored vehicles were stationed at the ancient Roman bridge in the village of Ain Diwar, north of Derik.
A member of the Russian patrol told North Press that they will stay in Ain Diwar until Sunday morning, after which they will return to their bases in Qamishli.
The arrival of the patrol was accompanied by the overflight of four Russian helicopters before returning to Qamishli.
On January 4, the Russian police conducted a military patrol in the western countryside of the city of Derik.
The Russian police have recently intensified its patrols in the Derik area in an attempt to establish a military point in the area, amid protests by residents.
