Russian military police patrol countryside of Syria’s Derik

DERIK, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian Military Police conducted a patrol in the countryside of Derik, in the far northeast region of Syria.

Local sources from the village of Sarmsakh Tahtani, in the western countryside of Derik, told North Press that a Russian patrol consisting of four armored vehicles and accompanied by two helicopters passed the village, heading towards villages west of Derik.

Local sources from Ain Dewar village, north of Derik, indicated that the patrol reached the village before returning to the city of Qamishli.

Recently, Russian forces have intensified their efforts to establish a military post in the region, amid protests from residents.
