Death toll in the Newroz camp in Derik rises to five

On Saturday morning, the death toll of a fire that broke out in the Newroz camp in the northeastern Syrian city of Derik rose to 5, according to the camp administration.
 
On Friday, a fire broke out in the camp, after a pressure cooker and a heater exploded in a tent.

On Saturday, the administrator of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Ahmad Shiekhamous, said that another man lost his life this morning, and 11 people were severely burned.

"The injured were taken to the burn center in Hasakah," added Sheikhamous.

Yesterday, a source from the Newroz camp administration indicated to North-Press that there is an urgent need to transfer them to the hospitals of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, "which is difficult due to the closure of the borders."

The source added: "There are attempts by the Kurdish Red Crescent to obtain approval to transport the burned people to hospitals in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq."

It's worth mentioning that 103 IDP families from Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tal Abyad live in Newroz camp, in addition to IDPs from the Kobani and Afrin areas north of Aleppo, according to the camp administration.
