Human casualties in a pressure cooker explosion in northeastern Syria

An explosion of a pressure cooker and a heater on Friday evening, inside a tent in Newroz camp for IDPs in Derik countryside, northeastern Syria, led to the death of two children and injury of four others of a displaced family.

A source inside the camp told North-Press that during the preparation of food, the pressure cooker exploded and followed by the explosion of the heater on Friday evening, inside a tent of a displaced family, which led to the death of two children and the serious injury of four others, they were taken to one of the hospitals in the town of Derik.

The source stated that initial information indicates to the burning of the tent as the family members have been transferred to a hospital in Derik, without knowing any additional information.

Newroz IDP camp consists of about 50 families including 210 people, who have been displaced from Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tal-Abyad (Gre-Spi), in addition to displaced persons from Kobani and Afrin.
