Preventative measures in Rif-Dimashq … amid increased numbers of coronavirus infections

On Friday, Sednayah City Council, in the Rif-Dimashq governorate closed all city’s entrances, except the hospital, as a preventative measure to confront the COVID-19 epidemic.

According to a local pro-Syrian government radio station, the city council of Sednayah (30 km northern Damascus), in cooperation with charities closed all entrances of the city except for one entrance of the hospital.

A medical point with a sterilization team was placed at the entrance of the predominantly Christian city to test all arrivals and to sterilize the vehicles and food supplies, in addition to distributing sterilizers and masks to the houses.

The council promised to provide groceries with appropriate prices and appealed the rich class to provide financial aid to the cleaners as a kind of encouragement.

This measure preceded by imposing a curfew in the town of Manin, northern Damascus, because of the death of a woman with coronavirus in the town.

Yesterday, the governmental team of coronavirus imposed a curfew in the predominantly Shiite district of Sayyidah Zaynab in southern Damascus.

On Thursday, the World Health Organization representative in Syria, Naama Said Abd announced that “the situation in Syria is critical, regarding coronavirus, as it is a destination of visits to religious shrines.”
