Sterilization campaign in Raqqa in coincidence with the lockdown in northeastern Syria

The People’s Municipality in the city of Raqqa, in cooperation with the Health Committee of Raqqa Civil Council, conducted a massive sterilization campaign yesterday, on Monday, targeting the main streets and public squares in the city.

The sterilization campaign targeted February 23 Street and Tal Abyad Street in the city center of Raqqa, as well as the main squares such as al-Sa’ah and al-Dallah and al-Naeem roundabouts in the city center.

The head of the Hygiene Department in the People’s Municipality in Raqqa, Abdul Salam Ismail, told North-Press that the sterilization campaign will target all neighborhoods of Raqqa, especially the public places that are frequently visited by people such as bakeries and main roundabouts.

Ismail said that the campaign will continue throughout the lockdown days as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus, starting from 06:00 in the morning until late at night.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has set 15 days as a period of lockdown in its areas, starting from Monday, with the possibility of extension in case of necessity and the public interest.

The head of the Health Committee of Raqqa Civil Council, Muhannad al-Kaakji, said that the campaign comes within the framework of the prevention of the novel coronavirus, noting that the campaign includes 30 sprinklers carried on the shoulder, in addition to a huge sprinkler.

The Health Committee of Raqqa Civil Council has equipped a quarantine in the middle of the city near the building of Bahar Organization, and according to the assurances of those in charge of the health sector in Raqqa, no suspects have been admitted to the quarantine center in Raqqa until today.
