People s Municipality in Qamishli begins a campaign to clean the city s streets as a prelude to sterilization

The People's Municipality in the city of Qamishli, in cooperation with the Health Authority on Tuesday, the second day of the lockdown in northeastern Syria, began a campaign to clean the streets of the city, as part of a series of preventive measures against coronavirus epidemic.

The cleaning campaign carried out by the municipality in the early morning hours including all the streets of the city in preparation for sterilization by the Health Committee in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, according to the co-chair of the Municipal Committee in the district of Qamishli, Sharmin Shakhou.

Shakhou told North-Press that residents are required to stay in their homes, "We work for you so stay in your homes, let's cooperate to protect ourselves."

The lockdown decision in northeastern Syria came into effect yesterday to avoid the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and traffic police were deployed throughout the city of Qamishli to monitor the implementation of the ban and the movement of passers-by, whom the administration gave permission to move over the nature of their work that requires continuation.

The Autonomous Administration announced that the duration of the lockdown is 15 days, starting on March 23, and is extendable if necessary, according to a statement by the administration.
