Precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in northern Aleppo

The Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration of Afrin in northern countryside of Aleppo began last week to take pre-emptive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus among the displaced people of Afrin and people of the villages of Aleppo's northern countryside.

 

The protective measures included (sterilization campaigns in institutions and Afarin Hospital, and distribution of brochures to people), in addition to placing projectors in medical points and the hospital to display preventive guidance and instructions against the virus, through five shows to the medical staff and patients, as Hevin Hussein, co-chair of the Autonomous Administration's Health Authority in the northern countryside of Aleppo explained to North-Press.

 

Yesterday on Wednesday, the Autonomous Administration in northern Aleppo suspended the works of institutions for three days, in order to sterilize the institutions.

 

Earlier last week, it suspended schools in northern Aleppo after the circular issued by Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to close all schools, institutes and universities (for students and teachers only), in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

 

Moreover, Hevin Hussein confirmed that the northern countryside of Aleppo has not recorded any cases of infection with the virus so far, noting that 16 devices have been secured for remote temperature tests and distributed to the entrances of the camps and medical points.

 

Meanwhile, the protest organized by the displaced people of Afrin region was canceled yesterday, Wednesday, on the second anniversary of occupation of Turkish forces over the region, as a precautionary measure in anticipation of the coronavirus.

 

Hevin Hussein stressed the need for the residents to adhere to medical advice to be protected against the virus, and not to be afraid of the disease, pointing out that the Health Authority "will raise the level of procedures in the future if necessary," as she said.
