Semalka crossing in northeastern Syria out of service due to heavy rain

The Semalka border crossing with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, located in the Derik area of far northeastern Syria, was out of service on Wednesday due to the high water levels of Tigris River caused by heavy rain.

The administrator of relations the crossing, Sherzad Othman, told North-Press that the crossing was closed until further notice as a result of the two bridges linking the crossing being out of service due to flooding.

Othman added that work will be temporarily transferred to al-Waleed crossing until the two bridges return to service.

 
Since yesterday, the northeastern areas of Syria have been witnessing heavy rain, which have led to an increase in the level of the Tigris River in Derik countryside.
