Semalka-Faysh Khabur crossing adopts passport stamping for non-Syrian arrivals
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Authorities at the Semalka-Faysh Khabour border crossing with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) begin stamping the passports of non-Syrian nationals entering Syria through the crossing, an administrative source told North Press on Thursday.
The source said the new procedure applies to all foreign nationals who do not hold Syrian citizenship upon entering the country.
Syrian citizens, however, are exempt from the measure, even if they are traveling on foreign passports.
“Passports of Syrian nationals entering Syria through the Semalka crossing will not be stamped upon entry,” the source said.
According to the official, the move is intended to reflect that the border crossing is operating through regular and official procedures.
