Asayish warn of fraudulent car sale platforms in Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Hasakah governorate warned on Sunday residents and vehicle owners against fraudulent advertisements offering cars at unusually low prices and suspicious transportation requests, saying such schemes have been linked to robbery and murder cases.

In a statement, the Asayish called on residents to exercise the highest level of caution and avoid being deceived by fake advertisements that promote vehicles at significantly reduced prices without proper verification.

“We call for the highest degree of vigilance and caution, and urge people not to be drawn into fake advertisements offering cars at very low prices without verification,” the statement said.

The force also advised residents against traveling to remote or uninhabited locations for vehicle inspections or purchases, warning that criminal groups use such methods to lure victims for robbery and, in some cases, murder.

The Asayish further warned drivers against accepting transportation or rental requests from unknown individuals to isolated areas or locations outside their normal service routes.

According to the statement, security follow-ups have documented numerous incidents in which drivers were subjected to armed robberies and serious assaults, some resulting in fatalities.

The force stressed the importance of verifying the legality and authenticity of vehicle registration and ownership documents through the relevant authorities before completing any sale or purchase transaction.

At the end of the statement, the Asayish urged residents and drivers to immediately contact the operations room hotline or visit the nearest Internal Security Forces center if they are asked to go to a suspicious location or notice unusual movements linked to multiple phone numbers.
