Israeli forces raid houses, detain resident in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Sunday carried out incursions in two areas of the Quneitra Governorate in southern Syria, accompanied by military movements, house raids, and the detention of a local resident.
Local sources told North Press that four Israeli military vehicles entered the town of Jubata al-Khashab in Quneitra northern countryside, where soldiers searched two houses before detaining a young man from the town and transferring him to a nearby Israeli military base.
The reasons behind the detention remain unknown at the time of publishing, according to the sources.
In a separate movement, three Israeli tanks advanced into the al-Durriyat area in Quneitra southern countryside, while Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were reported flying over the region.
The sources said the tanks later withdrew to their positions nearly an hour after the incursion began.
The latest developments come amid frequent Israeli military movements and incursions in Quneitra countryside in recent months, including raids and searches in villages near the demarcation line.
Residents in the area have expressed growing concern over the continued military activity, which has heightened tensions across parts of southern Syria.
Israeli forces have intensified operations near the Syrian border following regional escalation linked to the Gaza war and cross-border security concerns. Syrian authorities have repeatedly condemned the incursions as violations of Syrian sovereignty.
