Syrian Public Prosecutor says Hasakah visit aims to reactivate courts

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Public Prosecutor said on Sunday that his visit to Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, aims to discuss mechanisms to reactivate courts in the governorate after years of disruption.

In a statement to North Press, Hassan al-Terba, Syrian Public Prosecutor, said the visit came under directives from the Justice Minister to assess judicial facilities and coordinate steps toward resuming court operations.

Earlier in the day, al-Terba and an accompanying delegation arrived in Hasakah, where they were received by Governor Nour al-Din Ahmad, who is Kurd and was elected for the position by Mazloum Abdi, SDF Commander-in-Chief.

“Under instructions from the Minister of Justice, we arrived today in Hasakah and met with the governor to discuss mechanisms for reactivating courts in the governorate,” al-Terba told North Press.

He added that the delegation visited the Palace of Justice in Hasakah and met with judges and administrative staff, noting that courts at the facility are expected to begin receiving visitors soon.

Al-Terba explained that resuming work at the Palace of Justice requires time for maintenance and rehabilitation of the building.

He added that the proposed mechanism was discussed with the governor and would be conveyed to the Justice Minister and the High Judicial Council for further action.
