Mazloum Abdi discusses regional developments with Talabani, US envoy
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), General Mazloum Abdi, said on Wednesday that he held separate meetings with Bafel Talabani, president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and Tom Barrack, the United States envoy to Syria, to discuss recent developments in the region.
In a post published on the X platform, Abdi stated, “It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, in a productive and useful meeting.”
He added, “We value partnership and working together to achieve a better future for our people, as this meeting strengthens joint cooperation and reflects our commitment to building strong and productive relations.”
Abdi also said in the same post that he held another meeting with the US envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, during which “the recent developments in the region were discussed, including the January 29 agreement.”
He noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and ideas on ways to enhance stability and security in the region and to work jointly to address the challenges facing the Syrian people.
The meetings took place amid ongoing diplomatic contacts between regional actors and international partners regarding security and political developments affecting northeast Syria and neighboring areas.
