SDF commander holds talks with PUK chief on Syria developments
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, received on Tuesday the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, in Dabasahan in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to discuss the latest developments in Syria.
The meeting was attended by Qubad Talabani, a senior member of the PUK leadership, according to a statement released following the talks.
During the meeting, Abdi reviewed his recent participation in the Munich Security Conference, outlining discussions held there regarding ongoing challenges in Syria, particularly security threats and the need for continued international engagement in maintaining stability across the country.
Abdi expressed appreciation for the continued support provided by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in efforts aimed at combating terrorism, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation in confronting security risks and preserving stability in areas liberated from ISIS.
For his part, Talabani reaffirmed his party’s support for Kurds in Syria, stressing the importance of achieving a Syrian state that respects the rights of all components and reflects the country’s social and cultural diversity within its institutions and government.
The meeting comes amid ongoing diplomatic contacts between Kurdish political and military actors across the region, as discussions continue over Syria’s political future and security arrangements following years of conflict.
