Syrian government delegation visits Qamishli Airport for handover talks
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian government delegation visited on Sunday Qamishli Airport to review its current status and discuss the mechanisms for handing over control in the coming days, North Press has learned.
The delegation met with representatives from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Autonomous Administration’s internal security force, the Asayish, to inspect the airport and coordinate the handover process.
The visit comes after Syrian government security forces entered Qamishli city on Tuesday, in accordance with a previously reached agreement with the SDF. The agreement aims to organize the transfer of authority while maintaining security and operational stability at the airport.
Leading the government delegation were Major General Marwan al-Ali, Head of Internal Security in al-Hasakah province, and Colonel Ahmed al-Ahmad, Director of Airport and Border Security. According to official sources, the discussions focused on operational protocols, staff coordination, and ensuring uninterrupted airport functions during the transition.
