ISIS claims hitting oil tanker near Deir ez-Zor oil field
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Tuesday responsibility for targeting an oil tanker in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, marking the second consecutive day the group has announced such an attack in the area.
The claim was published by Amaq News Agency, an outlet affiliated with ISIS, which said that “the group’s militants targeted, using automatic weapons, an oil tanker working with the SDF near the al-Izba oil field in the town of al-Izba, in the northern Deir ez-Zor countryside.” The statement added that “the attack resulted in damage to the tanker.”
A day earlier, on Monday, ISIS also claimed responsibility for targeting an oil well in a town in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside. According to data published by outlets affiliated with the group, the attack was the 14th operation claimed by ISIS in the area since the beginning of the current month.
