Israeli forces establish checkpoint, search homes in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli army forces infiltrated on Saturday the southern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, and established a military checkpoint, while a unit from the force conducted inspections of several homes and interacted with local residents.
Local sources told North Press that an Israeli military convoy, consisting of six vehicles and dozens of soldiers, entered the outskirts of the village of Saida al-Hanout, where it set up a checkpoint at the main entrance. Part of the force later moved into residential neighborhoods.
A day earlier, on Friday, Israeli forces arrested two individuals at a checkpoint set up between the villages of al-Ajraf and Umm Batna in central Quneitra and transferred them to the Golan Heights.
The sources added that the Israeli soldiers searched a number of homes and questioned residents about the general situation in Syria, without making any arrests.
According to the sources, Israeli forces offered food assistance to residents, but the offer was rejected. Locals also declined to answer the soldiers’ questions.
