Israeli forces advance into several villages in southern Quneitra

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces advanced on Wednesday into multiple villages in the southern countryside of Quneitra, marking a new ground incursion in the far southwest of Syria, according to state-run media.

The reported incursion came hours after an Israeli drone carried out two airstrikes on the road linking the town of Beit Jinn to Tal Bat al-Ward in the Damascus countryside. Local sources said the strikes targeted an isolated mountain route and resulted in no casualties.

Syria’s state news agency SANA said an Israeli patrol advanced from the al-Adnaniyah point toward several villages in southern Quneitra. The patrol reportedly reached the village of Umm A’zam, where it set up a temporary checkpoint at a road junction leading to the villages of al-Mushirfa, al-Sa’ida and Ruwayhina.

According to the agency, three Israeli military vehicles also advanced separately toward Ruwayhina, a village located south of Quneitra city and close to the disengagement line established after the 1974 agreement.

No independent confirmation has been issued regarding the depth of the incursion, and Syrian government authorities have not released further details. Israeli officials did not comment on the incident.
