U.S.-led Coalition conducts joint patrols with SDF in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Forces from the U.S.-led Global Coalition conducted on Thursday joint patrols with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) across five locations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, amid active aerial surveillance by fighter jets and helicopters.
The patrol began at the al-Omar oil field and proceeded toward the town of Baghuz, near the Syrian-Iraqi border.
Coalition and SDF forces visited key sites between the towns of Susah and Baghuz, including Abu Kamal Bridge and the Baghuz hill, aiming to reinforce security and monitor potential militant activity.
The Coalition, led by the United States, maintains regular patrols in Deir ez-Zor’s countryside, supporting SDF counter-terrorism units in ongoing operations against cells of the Islamic State (ISIS).
These missions focus on deterring extremist activity, securing infrastructure, and maintaining regional stability.
Since the territorial defeat of ISIS in 2019, the U.S.-led Coalition has continued to operate in eastern Syria, focusing on counter-terrorism support for the SDF.
Regular patrols are conducted to prevent ISIS resurgence, secure strategic infrastructure such as oil fields and bridges, and provide intelligence for targeted operations.
The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, bordering Iraq, remains a critical corridor for both security monitoring and cross-border cooperation against extremist networks.
