Jordanian forces foil drugs smuggling attempts on eastern border
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian army announced on Monday that it had foiled two attempts to smuggle narcotics-laden balloons across the Jordan’s eastern border.
A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said that, at dawn, units of the Eastern Military Zone intercepted and downed two balloons carrying large quantities of drugs.
The balloons were dealt with, shot down, and their cargo seized inside Jordanian territory, the source confirmed.
This incident comes just days after the army announced, on Aug. 24, that it had prevented an infiltration attempt and the smuggling of a large shipment of narcotics across the northeastern border with Syria.
